I haven’t been involved in a Bible study for a while and now I find myself not only involved in one but two! I am loving it and hating it.  Loving that it is causing me to look into the Word of God, look at my own shortcomings, but then overcome with the faithfulness of God! Hating that it is stretching me, taking me out of my comfort zone, knowing all the while that this is a very good thing!! So if you are wondering why I have been a little quiet…that’s what has been going on over here, along with birthdays, grandchildren and all those other things! One of the Bible studies that I am leading is a post-abortive study.  If I could ever figure how to put a tab up I would love to tell you my story.  Maybe when the studies are done and I have more time.  I am technically challenged and this whole blog thing has been a HUGE learning curve.  My pile of books and my fire are calling me! Later…

You have to understand that when one of us girls has a birthday around here we like for it to be life-changing! We like to ask questions like,  “Is this the best haircut, hair color?” and, “Should I wear this lipstick color?”, “Do these jeans make my butt look big?”, stuff like that.  So after evaluating hair color for the birthday girl Holly, we did indeed decide that her brown hair was a tad bit “mousy”.  So the birthday girl got highlights from me and her dad! (Thanks Peyton!) So in honor of the blonder Holly I thought it only appropriate to have a Tangled theme party!

Holly had requested paper plates,  a laid back, burgers on the grill kind of night so I was eager to oblige!

Then presents! You can’t tell much about that hair color here but it is good!

Could we get one more person on that couch?

Poor Cheryl is running out of lap! We look forward to meeting our new grandson SOON!

Just about every time we all get together the games come out and this night was no different!  A little Go Fish and Guess Who.

We ended the night cuddled up and watching the season premier of Swamp People! If you don’t know what Swamp People is I don’t even know what to say…you haven’t lived. Or at least you haven’t lived with little boys! (I will say the language seemed worse last night when those gators would almost bite their arms off! Not good!)

So Holly Kaye Haun Smith, I love you! I had so much fun celebrating you last week! (Yes, I said week!) I love you and yours and cannot imagine my life without you! I pray that this coming year is full of wonderful, beautiful, amazing things!

Porch Sweepers

I LOVE old people! I do! Now I’m not talking about old people like Madonna at the Super Bowl half-time show.  My goodness! I was afraid that she was going to break her hip! As my 9-year-old grandson would say “Awkward”! No, I mean real old people.  The octogenerarians. Our kitchen window neighbor just recently turned 50 and his parents came to celebrate with him.  My neighbor’s dad swept the front and back porch every day? Maybe twice.  What is with that?  My mother was always sweeping the porch too.  It makes me feel like somehow I missed some important lesson that has to do with sweeping the porch…that it is somehow therapeutic! We blow our porches off every now and then, but where is the rhythm in that? But that generation has some serious porch sweepers! But to run across porch sweepers with a sense of humor…that’s my favorite! We walked across their well swept porch for a little game of bingo and birthday cake and shared such a sweet evening full of laughter!

I crawled into bed last night, worn out and energized all at the same time!
I finally made it to Canton after way too long of realizing the weekend after that “Oh, it’s First Monday!”! I grabbed a few girlfriends, loaded up in the big truck at the crack of dawn, and off we went!! I LOVE wandering around looking at all the ways people can think of to create!! Getting out and rubbing shoulders with those vendors has a way of turning on those creative juices and getting me thinking outside the box! Laughing with friends, sharing ideas, carrying on about eight different conversations about everything from how we are going to get our hair cut next time to the Bible Study that we are currently trying to wrap our hearts and minds around makes for a wonderful day!!  Gosh, I am a blessed woman!
