It was a typical day of rushing, running, finishing up all the details that encompass pulling off a successful Christmas celebration. I was questioning myself, the gifts I was giving, the food I was preparing. Judging myself. No Christmas cards went out, projects around the house that I was sure would be finished by now still waiting, trying to pull it all together.

Arriving home I was greeted with a beautiful basket full of Christmas goodies dropped off by dear friends. Attached was a note that put everything in perspective.  It was full of encouragement for me and my husband. Lovingly thought out and written in a way that surrounded us with purpose and courage.  I can’t tell you how many times I have read and reread that note. Such a timely gift.

My prayer is that I will be listening to that gentle prompting of the Holy Spirit, with exactly the right words that will bring the gift of encouragement to others.

But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. Hebrews 3:13
